The song has become a pop and jazz standard, recorded by many artists. The song was first recorded by Claude Thornhill and his Orchestra on November 11, 1946. He released the song as a single in January, 1947[2] and it became permanently identified as the signature song for its vocalist, Fran Warren.[3] Louis Prima and his Orchestra released his recording of the song in February 1947. The popularity of the up-tempo version by The Del-Vikings released in 1957 increased the song's popularity. Despite having wide acclaim, the song never made the Billboard Top 40.
the sound of her voice, it's so soulful. She's singing about a feeling that we can relate to.
I want a Sunday kind of loveA love to last past Saturday nightAnd I'd like to know it's more than love at first sightAnd I want a Sunday kind of loveOh, yeah, yeah
I want a, a, a love that's on the squareCan't seem to find somebodySomeone to careAnd I'm on a lonely road that leads to nowhereI need a Sunday kind of love
I do my Sunday dreaming, oh, yeahAnd all my Sunday schemingEvery minute, every hour, every day
Oh, I'm hoping to discoverA certain kind of loverWho will show me the way
And my arms need someoneSomeone to enfoldTo keep me warm when Mondays and Tuesdays grow coldLove for all my life, to have and to holdOh, and I want a Sunday kind of loveOh, yeah, yeah, yeah
I don't want a Monday, TuesdayA Wednesday or ThursdayFriday or SaturdayOh, nothing but Sunday oh, yeah, yeahI want a Sunday, SundayI want a Sunday kind of loveOh, yeahSunday, Sunday, Sunday kind of love
